Soul Nerve is a solo work that, through personal and academic research, explores the psychosomatic effects the Black body experiences when one observes the horrors of our world that are so often televised. From genocide to police brutality, what it means to know that these are your kin and that the circumstances of birth are all that separate your experience. “are we animals? have we gone crazy? i can’t hear anythin but maddening screams & the soft strains of death & you promised me you promised me…somebody/ anybody sing a Black girls’ song” - Ntozake Shange, for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enough.
